The story centers on Jinta Yadomi, a withdrawn teenager who once led a close-knit group of childhood friends. Their bond shattered after the tragic death of Meiko "Menma" Honma, one of their members. Years later, Jinta begins seeing Menma’s ghost—cheerful and unchanged—who tells him she has a wish that must be fulfilled before she can move on. The catch? She doesn’t remember what the wish was.
To help Menma find peace, Jinta reconnects with the estranged friends from their old group: Anaru, Yukiatsu, Tsuruko, and Poppo. Each carries their own guilt, unresolved feelings, and emotional scars from Menma’s death. As they confront their past and rediscover their bond, they begin to heal—not just for Menma, but for themselves.
