The April Showers Bring May Flowers anime has revealed a new trailer, two additional cast members, and the ending theme song. Tasuku Hatanaka and Makoto Koichi are joining the cast as Tsutomu Shinbashi and Keisuke Ueno. The Japanese rock band Glasgow will perform the ending theme song “Souvenir.” The series is scheduled to premiere this July.

Silver Link is producing the series, with Mirai Minato (Mission: Yozakura Family) serving as the director and script supervisor. Miwa Oshima (Anne-Happy) is handling character design, while Yuki Hayashi (Haikyu!!) and Shogo Yamashiro (My Hero Academia: Vigilantes) are composing the music. The cast includes:

  • Saori Hayami as Hana Tabata

  • Shimba Tsuchiya as Yosuke Ueno

  • Yoshino Aoyama as Sumire Uguisudani

  • Yoshimasa Hosoya as Tetsuo Gotanda

The anime is based on a manga series by Roku Sakura, which was serialized in Kadokawa Shoten’s Young Ace seinen magazine from April 2016 to September 2022, spanning 12 volumes.

Yen Press has licensed the English version of the manga and describes the first volume as: Hana Tabata, who sees herself as the plain side character in others' stories, doesn’t feel like her name, which means “flower,” suits her. Still, she loves romance manga and sometimes imagines herself as the heroine. When the most popular guy in class catches her daydreaming, she fears humiliation but is surprised when he keeps her secret and starts chatting with her. Ever doubtful, Hana wonders if his kindness could truly be sincere.
