Kyoto Animation’s upcoming anime, CITY THE ANIMATION, has dropped its second main trailer and confirmed exclusive streaming on Amazon Prime starting July 6. Directed by Taichi Ishidate, the anime also released a 30-second commercial recently.

The series is based on CITY, a manga by Keiichi Arawi, the creator of Nichijou: My Ordinary Life. The theme songs were introduced in the first trailer, featuring “Hello” by Furui Riho as the opening and “LUCKY” by TOMOO as the ending. A preview of the opening song is included in the latest trailer.

The main voice cast of CITY THE ANIMATION features Mikako Komatsu as Midori Nagumo, Aki Toyosaki as Nikura, and Yui Ishikawa as Wako Izumi, among others. Directed by Taichi Ishidate, the anime showcases character designs and chief animation direction by Tamami Tokuyama. The creative team also includes Kana Miyata for color design, Shiori Yamazaki for art direction, Hiroki Ueda for photography direction, Tatsunori Kase for CG direction, and Yota Tsuruoka for sound direction.

Keiichi Arawi’s manga City was serialized in Kodansha’s Morning magazine from 2016 to 2021, concluding with 13 volumes. After a three-year break, it returned on December 24, 2024. The English version of the manga was licensed by Vertical Comics.

The story revolves around Midori Nagumo, a broke college student trying to pay her rent in a city teeming with eccentric characters. With her landlady constantly on her case and her friend unwilling to help, Midori resorts to petty schemes and odd jobs, all while getting swept up in the city's chaotic adventures.
