October 22, 20232 yr Do you prune your older posts? Thoughts on forums that do this? How do you feel about forums that have a pubic archive forum full of locked threads that nobody can reply to?
November 2, 20232 yr Owner I have the graveyard here that has old posts from the database backup I imported. I think I might end up creating new topics with the old stuff and seeing if we can get any activity.
November 6, 20232 yr Owner I just pruned old content to do the xenForo conversion. I honestly think that having something to look back on to see if the topic is relevant in this day and age is a good thing. but that's basically padding your post count.
November 28, 20232 yr I don't like it when I stumble onto a forum with a Google search, and may have something to add to the conversation, even if the conversation is like five years old, but I can't comment because the post has been "archived" or worse yet, locked. Well, I was going to join the community so I could add my two cents, but that place is only interested in new commentary. Personally, on my own forum, I'll keep old topics open, because even though something is old, it doesn't mean that the information or somebody's experience is no longer valid. Heck, some of my hobbies are old. I still like playing ancient computer games like X-Wing, and Asheron's Call, I like older anime, and although Ranma 1/2 has been completed now for years, there are some worthy discussions to still be had.
