It definitely checks all of the boxes of being a team sport, and is absurdly physically demanding once you get to high levels like every other sport. So I don't have any reason that it would not be considered a sport.

 

I think the biggest issue with cheerleading and other dancing/entertainment related sports is that people haven't actually tried them. Most people look at these types of activities and think they are easy and anyone can perform them, but if they were to simply try it for the 60 plus minutes that they might be doing the activity, most people would fail hysterically bad.

Yes. Cheerleeding is most definitely a sport. It requires teamwork, and a well conditioned physical body to perform. I know that I certainly can't do it anymore. And on top of that, there are people who actually enjoy watching the choreography of cheerleading.
