This was always something I thought encouraged activity and discussion. Reading the same manga or watching through an anime together and discussing it seems to encourage people to be more active than simply commenting on it in passing.

What about featuring food and recipes from anime and manga? Everybody's gotta eat, and some of my favorite dishes are actually normally Japanese items.

The Viewing party would be a great idea if we could implement it safely. This could be a Discord thing we could do. The food idea is also a great idea, Should this be a subforum in the Japanese Culture forum?

Book clubs are a safe bet. I was part of a Discord group that did weekly manga reads followed by discussion. I wasn’t great at keeping up, but it definitely encouraged engagement.

Watch parties would be fantastic. Discord could work well, though I’m also curious about Invision’s Live Topics feature. That said, you need to be cautious; if the forum grows or draws the wrong kind of attention, legal issues could arise.

As for the food and recipe idea, I love it. It’s something that could generate organic traffic and community interest. Unlike anime news or databases, which are dominated by media giants, recipes require watching, studying, and interpreting the source material. That’s something big corporations struggle to automate, and it’s where fan communities shine.
