HoYoverse has revealed that Zenless Zone Zero's upcoming major update, Version 2.2 “Do Not Go Gentle Into That Good Night,” is set to launch on September 4. This update will enhance the storyline with the introduction of the Obol Squad, a Defense Force unit sent to the Waifei Peninsula following the Exaltists' failed scheme.
The new faction brings three new characters to the roster.
Seed, an S-Rank Electric Attack Agent, fights alongside his modified Seed Sr. mecha and strengthens team damage output.
Orphie & Magus, the squad’s captain, specializes in laser-based combat and team coordination, granting allies boosted attacks and defense-piercing capabilities.
Mercury, an S-Rank Bangboo companion, enters the game as a tank operator.
Returning agents Trigger and Evelyn will be available, while Soldier 0 – Anby is undergoing updates for a future release.
Version 2.2 introduces new events like Band of Brave Bangboo, a tower defense mode with new maps, enemies, and environmental hazards. Completing stages unlocks the A-Rank Excaliboo companion, which alternates between sword and hammer attacks by chance. Rhythm Rave, a rhythm-based mini-game, features familiar tracks and offers in-game rewards.
Quality-of-life improvements include expanded customization, allowing players to choose Belle or Wise before starting companion events like Quality Time invites.
Additionally, Zenless Zone Zero has launched its first gaming peripherals collaboration with Razer, featuring Miyabi. The collection includes the Razer Iskur V2 X, Razer BlackWidow V4 X, Razer Cobra, and Razer Gigantus V2 – Medium.
Zenless Zone Zero is available on PlayStation 5 Pro, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox Cloud Gaming, PC, iOS, and Android.
