Attack on Titan manga Volume 2 was listed among books banned from Knox County Tennessee’s schools. According to WVLT, the schools received a list from the district of books to be removed from their libraries under Tennessee’s Age-Appropriate Materials Act, which aims to align school policies with state requirements.

It was serialized in Kodansha's Bessatsu Shōnen Magazine from September 2009 until April 2021, and its chapters have been collected into 34 tankōbon volumes. The television anime adaptation was produced by WIT Studio for its first three seasons before MAPPA took over. The series concluded with 94 episodes, and the final episodes (88-94) were released as two special Final Chapters.

These Final Chapters were later compiled into a movie titled THE LAST ATTACK, featuring enhanced visuals and audio. The film premiered in Japan on November 8th and received largely positive reviews, including a new scene after the credits. On December 5th, the movie surpassed 1 billion yen in box office revenue, with plans for international screenings in early 2025.
