Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc is set to hit Japanese theaters on September 19, with an IMAX version premiering simultaneously at 61 locations across the country. To hype up the release, a new poster featuring Denji alongside the Shark Fiend Beam has been unveiled. Check out the new IMAX visual below.

Before the premiere, ABEMA will host a special program on September 5 at 8:00 PM. The event will be presented by comedian Kendo Kobayashi and feature guests such as Denji’s voice actor Kikunosuke Toya, comedians Crystal Noda (Magical Lovely) and Shogo (Tokyo Hoteison), freelance announcer Neki Matsuzawa, and Vivian Murakawa from the idol group CANDY TUNE. The program will take viewers behind the scenes at animation studio MAPPA, include comments from musician Kenshi Yonezu (who performs both the opening and ending themes), and provide the latest updates on the movie.
Chainsaw Man Digest Edition & New Short Anime
After the special, ABEMA will exclusively stream a digest version of the Chainsaw Man TV anime on the same day. This re-edited compilation condenses the 12-episode series into one special and includes a newly animated short called Chainsaw Biyori (Chainsaw Days), inspired by the manga’s bonus chapters. Other streaming platforms will start offering the digest edition from September 12.

Studio MAPPA is handling the animation, with Tatsuya Yoshihara stepping in as director after Ryu Nakayama directed Season 1. The anime movie is set to debut in Japan on September 19, with international releases starting September 24. It will premiere in U.S. theaters on October 29, 2025.
Tatsuki Fujimoto is the creator of the Chainsaw Man manga, which is divided into two parts, with the second part ongoing since July 2023. The MangaPLUS app publishes it in English, offering all chapters for free while using the app. Viz Media manages the physical releases.
MAPPA’s channel summarizes The Reze Arc movie’s plot as follows: Denji, now “Chainsaw Man” with a devil’s heart, works as part of Special Division 4’s devil hunters. After a date with Makima, his dream girl, Denji takes shelter from the rain and meets Reze, a girl who works at a café.
