Atsushi Ohkubo, the creator of Soul Eater, is also the writer and illustrator of the Fire Force manga. The series was serialized in Kodansha’s Weekly Shonen Magazine from September 2015 to February 2022 and was also licensed in English by Kodansha. The story is set in Tokyo, where a deadly phenomenon called spontaneous human combustion threatens the city. To combat this, the Fire Force is formed. Special Fire Cathedral 8 welcomes a unique new member, Shinra, a boy who can run at rocket speed, leaving behind the iconic “devil’s footprints” (and frequently ruining his shoes). Together, Shinra and his team must uncover the source of this bizarre epidemic before the city is consumed by flames.
