After nearly five years of serialization on Shonen Jump+, Naoya Matsumoto's hit manga Kaiju No. 8 will conclude in two more chapters with Chapter 129. This announcement followed the release of Chapter 127 on June 6 in Japan, with Chapter 128 set to drop on June 20.

The manga’s end comes just before Season 2, which will stream worldwide on July 19 via X (formerly Twitter). Additionally, the Hoshina’s Day Off special episode will stream on X on July 5. Akatsuki Games, TOHO, and Production I.G’s upcoming Kaiju No. 8 THE GAME recently surpassed 300,000 pre-registrations in June, just two weeks after hitting 200,000 on May 15. The game is expected to launch on August 31, 2025.

First published on Shonen Jump+ on July 3, 2020, Kaiju No. 8 has reached over 18 million copies in circulation across 15 volumes. Crunchyroll and X will both stream Season 2, and Crunchyroll has teased a “special surprise” for the series at Anime Expo 2025. English readers can follow the manga weekly on Manga PLUS, while VIZ Media handles the volumes in North America and offers this description:

Kafka dreams of joining his childhood friend Mina in the Japan Defense Force to fight kaiju side by side. But while she leads as Third Division captain, Kafka is stuck cleaning up the aftermath of battles. A sudden rule change gives him another shot at the squad, but there’s a hitch—he’s now on the Defense Force’s neutralization list under the code name Kaiju No. 8.
