Keiichi Arawi’s City manga ran from 2016 to 2021 in Kodansha’s Morning magazine, concluding with 13 volumes. After a three-year break, it returned on December 24, 2024. Vertical Comics licensed the English version, describing it as:
From the creator of Nichijou, this surreal slapstick series follows Midori Nagumo, a broke college student living in a city full of eccentric characters. As she dashes around, she stirs up chaos and keeps the city lively.
Midori is struggling with debt, facing a landlady demanding unpaid rent, and a best friend unwilling to lend her money anymore. She considers bullying or petty theft, but neither is a long-term solution. Perhaps getting a job could help, though it might cut into her time for wild city adventures.
CITY THE ANIMATION marks KyoAni’s first new anime adaptation in six years.
