Nowaki Fukamidori’s novel, Whoever Steals This Book, is being adapted into an anime film. A teaser trailer, visual, staff details, and a 2026 release date have been revealed, but the voice cast remains unannounced.

Kadokawa Shoten released the novel in October 2020, followed by a paperback edition under the Kadokawa Bunko imprint in June 2023. A manga adaptation, illustrated by Kakeru Sora, was serialized in Kadokawa Shoten’s Young Ace magazine from December 2021 to March 2023. Yen Press has licensed the title in English and describes the story like this: Mifuyu, a high schooler from a family of book collectors, is surrounded by books everywhere in her life. Her great-grandfather founded Mikura Hall, a renowned library in town, and even the locals are passionate readers. However, Mifuyu hates books! When a thief at Mikura Hall sets off an ancient curse, she must retrieve the stolen books by diving into the very stories she detests. With the enigmatic Mashiro by her side, can she restore her great-grandfather’s collection and protect her town from magical peril?
