Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle has surpassed $70 million at the U.S. box office, setting a new record for the highest-grossing opening weekend for an anime. This beats Pokémon: The First Movie’s $31.0 million from 1999, which adjusts to around $60 million in 2025. With Sunday’s actuals still pending, the film's weekend gross has been updated to $70.6 million.
Infinity Castle has earned over $386 million worldwide, and it’s only a matter of time before it surpasses its predecessor Mugen Train’s $504 million. This year still promises several big anime film events, with Sony Pictures Releasing and Crunchyroll planning to release Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc, and GKIDS set to screen Jujutsu Kaisen: Execution, which includes the first two episodes of the highly anticipated Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3.
