In celebration of the announcement, the novel’s illustrator, Shiso, created a special congratulatory illustration.
The story originally debuted as a web novel on Shosetsuka ni Naro in June 2020. Kadokawa later published a revised edition featuring illustrations under its Sneaker Bunko label in February 2021. Since then, the series has gained momentum, with the ninth volume set to release on August 29, 2025. A manga adaptation, illustrated by Kina Oyama, is also ongoing and currently has seven volumes available.
The plot centers on Hayato Kirishima, who moves from the countryside to attend high school in the city. There, he unexpectedly reunites with Haruki, a childhood friend he hasn’t seen in seven years. As kids, Hayato had assumed Haruki was a boy, but now Haruki has grown into a stunning young woman. Their reunion kicks off a romantic comedy filled with misunderstandings, nostalgia, and new emotions.
