The Witch Hat Atelier anime has announced a delay in its broadcast, originally planned for 2025, now rescheduled for 2026. On X (formerly Twitter), the series' staff shared the following update:

<Notice of Broadcast Schedule Change>

The TV anime “Witch Hat Atelier” will now air in 2026 to ensure the highest possible quality and fully capture its charm. We sincerely apologize to everyone eagerly awaiting the broadcast.

Our team is working with dedication and care on the production. Updates will be shared through official channels as they are finalized. We appreciate your patience and understanding.

The anime, based on Kamome Shirahama's manga, is directed by Ayumu Watanabe at BUG FILMS, with character designs by Kairi Unabara and music by Yuka Kitamura. The adaptation was first announced in 2022.

Kodansha USA has been publishing the English serialization of the manga since 2019, and they describe the story like this: In a world where magic spells and dragons are everyday wonders, Coco is a girl with a simple dream—she wants to be a witch. But everyone believes magicians are born, not made, and Coco wasn’t born with the gift of magic. Ready to give up on her dream, Coco’s life changes when she meets Qifrey, a mysterious traveling magician. After secretly watching Qifrey perform magic in a way she’s never seen before, Coco discovers that what everyone believes might not be true and realizes her magical dream might be closer than she thought.

We also had the opportunity to speak with Kamone Shirahama, Ayumu Watanabe, and Hiroaki Kojima about their inspirations for Witch Hat Atelier and how the trio envisioned different aspects of the anime series.
