The anime adapts Paru Itagaki's Beastars manga, which began serializing in Shounen Champion magazine from September 2016 to October 2020. Akita Shoten published the 22nd and final volume in January 2021. VIZ Media licensed the manga in English in November 2018 and shipped the 22nd and final volume in January 2023.

The official website for the anime series Hana wa Saku, Shura no Gotoku (Flower andura) revealed two supporting cast members, theme songs, visual (pictured), and main promotional video on Wednesday. The television anime adaptation of Ayano Takeda and Musshu's school drama manga will air on January 7 at 1:29 a.m. on NTV, followed by BS NTV,iba TV, TV Saitama (Teama), tvk, Sun, KBS Kyoto, and AT-X, with the exception of the first episode airing at 1:35 a.m. Voice actors Kouji Yusa (Kuroshitsuji) and Youkoasa (Dungeon ni Deai wo Motomeru no wa Machigatteiru Darou ka) are joining the cast as Hiromi Kichijouji and Shura Saionji, respectively. Pop rock band SHISHAMO is performing the opening theme "Jibun Kakumei." Singer-songwriter Satou is performing the ending theme "Rourou." The theme songs are previewed in the promotional video below. Ayumu Uwano (Majo no Tabitabi episode director) is directing the anime at Studio Bind. Kazuyuki Fudeyasu (Shangri-La Frontier) is in charge of series composition. A new Kidou Senshi Gund (Mobile Suit Gundam) television anime, subtitled GQuuuuuuX, was announced at the Gundam Conference Winter 2024 on Wednesday.
