Favorite Forum Software
Yes, YaBB was fantastic free software in the early 2000s, and of course, it stands for Yet Another Bulletin Board! Haha! I've been an Invision Community fanboy for a long time, especially with Anime Social, but xenForo is starting to win me over. Don’t get me wrong, I still like Invision Community, but some of their business practices just don’t make much sense.

The Apothecary Daires
I have watched from start to finish of the first season at least 3 times (and made a forum theme out of the main character). I am currently working on the second season as it airs. I want to see your thoughts on it there might be spoilers in here so read at your own risk 1. The Unique Setting and Historical Influence The anime is set in a Chinese-like imperial court, where Maomao, a skilled apothecary, finds herself entangled in palace politics. How does the historical setting enhance the storytelling? Does it accurately reflect real-world historical practices? 2. Maomao as a Protagonist Maomao is an intelligent and independent character who uses her medical expertise to solve mysteries. How does her personality set her apart from other female protagonists in anime? Do you think her character development is well-paced? 3. The Role of Medicine and Science The anime heavily incorporates medical knowledge and investigative techniques. How does this aspect make the story more engaging? Are there any moments where Maomao’s skills truly shine? 4. The Relationship Between Maomao and Jinshi Jinshi, the enigmatic eunuch, plays a significant role in Maomao’s journey. How does their dynamic evolve throughout the series? Do you think their relationship is more professional, romantic, or something in between? 5. The Adaptation Choices The anime has made some changes compared to the light novel and manga, such as altering the depiction of certain scenes. Do you think these changes improve the story, or do they take away from the original intent? 6. Themes of Power and Social Hierarchy The series explores the complexities of palace life, including the struggles of concubines and courtesans. How does The Apothecary Diaries portray the power dynamics within the imperial court? Does it offer a critique of historical gender roles? 7. The Future of the Series With Season 2 building up to a dramatic finale, what are your predictions for the next season? Do you think the anime will continue to break common storytelling trends? What are your thoughts on these topics? Let’s dive into the discussion!
